Vote for NONE OF THE ABOVE

Step 1. Voter Registration (if you are already registered to vote proceed directly to Step 2.)

In order to Vote for NONE OF THE ABOVE you will need to be registered to vote. Its not difficult, it's not painful, &, since the demise of the rightfully detested poll tax, it won't cost you anything (except maybe the price of a stamp)

In order to register to vote you'll need to complete an Electoral Registration Form - you can obtain one by a variety of ways:

The easiest as you're here now is to follow this LINK to a site run by those lovely people at the Electoral Commission. You'll be able to complete & download an ERF, & they even provide the addresses of all Electoral Registration Offices so you'll know where to send it.

You can also request a form from your local registration office in person or by post, phone or e-mail - contact details should be in your phone book, obtainable from your local council office or see the above LINK.

Step 2. Casting Your Vote

Obviously you're going to have to wait for an election to Vote for NONE OF THE ABOVE but that just gives you time to decide the manner of your vote based on your level of apathy/laziness.

Personal Voting

a simple matter of wandering down to your Polling Station on the correct day, completing your ballot paper & stuffing it in the box

Postal Voting

the Universe's gift to the truly politically apathetic. You have the right to register for a postal vote (for any given election or indefinitely) - but you must apply, preferable well in advance.

Once again those lovely people at the Electoral Commission provide everything you need to do this (except the stamp) so pay them a visit HERE if you haven't already done so.

Once you've registered for the postal vote your friendly electoral officer will send you a ballot paper prior to the election, along with a declaration of identity you'll need to sign (& have someone else witness your signature.)

Simply complete both the ballot paper & the declaration & return in the PRE-PAID (unless you live abroad) envelope.

Your postal vote will be mixed in with all other votes before the count begins, so you don't have to worry about 'them' finding out who you are.

Step 3. Completing Your Ballot Paper with a Vote for NONE OF THE ABOVE

Steps 1 & 2 apply equally however you wish to actually vote.

In order to Vote for NONE OF THE ABOVE & demonstrate to the politicians & their minions exactly what you do think of them you'll need to do this:

Approach your ballot paper armed with a red fibre-tip marker pen, preferably with a nice thick tip.

Ignore all instructions about placing a nice little cross next to someone's name.

Using big bold BLOCK CAPITALS write the following across the ballot paper:-

NON OF THE ABOVE

As appropriate place ballot paper in voting box or post box.

Give yourself pat on the back for striking a blow for freedom from f*cked-up politics.
